We're listening...
Hi Everyone!
One of the great things about working on a product like Spaces is the passion of our users.
We know we disappointed a bunch of you with the issues we had in our rollout last night. There was a period of over 12 hours where Spaces at best were extremely slow to render, if they rendered properly at all. We had a bunch of people working hard and late last night to address these issues that did not show up in any of our test environments. We planned long and hard for this release and unfortunately it was one of those gotchas that only showed up once we were in production.
A bunch of you were very rightly concerned during this period because many Spaces were not rendering correctly and this significantly impacted all the great work you do tweaking your Spaces. Now that we feel that we are on top of our initial roll out pains we would like everyone to step back and give us feedback on Windows Live Spaces now that Spaces is in much better shape.
We know we have some specific issues still to fix:
- Stats page not working
- Legacy emoticons not rendering correctly
- Some issues with Email publishing
- Some issues with Friends Explorer and Firefox
We are actively working to get these resolved.
We are also monitoring page loading performance. We do cache of a lot of client side script so first load will take longer than subsequent loads.
Thanks once again for your understanding on the URL changes. This was critical to us being able to scale the service. We know the pain this caused and this decision was not taken lightly. We have no plans to change the URL from its <spacename>.spaces.live.com format.
Please keep the feedback coming. We do listen even if we don’t get time to always reply. And we certainly care.
Thanks!
